Ed and I worked at Burroughs from 1971 - 1976 and then I got him to come to Tektronix. When I was a young sales guy at Burroughs, I'll always remember going out with him to see "how the pro worked". We walked up and down State St. in Albany when his territory was the banks. It took us a while to get to see the customers since Ed was greeted by just about everyone who we passed by while walking around downtown Albany.
Then when he joined Tektronix, it was my turn to show him "how it gets done" as we traveled around my territory frequently going to Burlington, VT. I'd pick him up at his house at 5 AM and we had our favorite spot for breakfast at this little cafe on Rte 22A in Vermont.
While working with Ed at Tektronix and after that when I went to GE, there were four of us "Burroughs graduates" (Ed, Walter, Paul and me) who religiously every second early Thursday morning met at the Van Patten Golf course to play 18 holes allowing us to get to the office by 11 AM. Ed was frequently my partner and once and a while when my father-in-law substituted for one of the guys, he and Ed were the "older guy" partners. Ed was not only a golfing gentleman but a gentleman in life.
As the years went on, moving away from the area, I lost track of Ed, but will always remember those great times we had working and playing together. So glad to read that he lived to a good age.
May he rest in peace.
