MECHANICVILLE - Edward J Tatro, Jr., 91, of longtime resident of Pruyn Hill Road, died peacefully Thursday evening, April 20th at Schuyler Ridge Health Facility after a brief illness.
Born in Stillwater, August 3, 1925, son of the late Edward J. and Corinne Tatro, Ed was a 1942 graduate of Stillwater Central School. After graduation, Ed enlisted in the US Navy during WWII. At the onset of the Korean War, Ed reentered the US Navy, serving as a Lieutenant ,honorably discharged in 1952. In between those wars, Ed earned a college degree at Siena College.
A salesman at Tektronix Corp for 11 years, previously at Burroughs Corp for 19 years and as a credit manager for Montgomery Wards for some years, he retired in 1989.
Ed was a true Patriotic American, who willingly served his country with honor.
A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Ed would do just about anything to help his family and friends. He and his wife were proud to maintain their home and property, and always strived to do their best for others.
Sadly, Ed was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Mildred “Millie” Garey Tatro, his son Ret. US Navy Lt. Cmdr. Gary Edward Tetreault both in 2007, his brother Richard Tatro, and sisters Dorothy Greenough and Helene Tetreault.

Survivors include his daughter-in-law Judith Tetreault along with grandsons Gary J. and Ryan J. Tetreault all of Virginia, niece Sally Davis-Taylor, sister-in-law Joan Tatro of Clifton Park, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Ed’s family expresses great appreciation to the staff at Schuyler Ridge, for the care, compassion and love shown to Ed and his family during his stay. You will never be forgotten.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 4 PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, followed by burial with military honors at Hudson View Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-4 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
