CLIFTON Park - Salvatore J. Costanzo, 88, of Pine Ridge II, died suddenly Monday, Jan 14th after being stricken at home. Born in Mechanicville, July 29, 1930, son of the late Raphael and Rose Taglione Costanzo, after high school graduation from Mechanicville, Sal enlisted in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War, and was discharged as a Sergeant.
A machinist for many years at the former Ford Motor plant in Green Island, Sal had volunteered at Our Lady of Hope for a number of years.
Sal will be remembered for his jovial personality, quick wit and friendly ways.
An avid golfer, Sal along with many friends played in Van Patten golf leagues, were he served years as president. He also was a die-hard NY Yankee fan, who always expected to be Champions. He enjoyed bowling and get togethers with family and friends.
Years ago, Sal was a dedicated Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League manager, coach, league official who loved teaching young boys the game of baseball, being more interested in teaching than winning.
He was predeceased by his daughter Teresa Costanzo and sisters Phyllis Martinelli and Susan Maloney.

The loss of my brother so suddenly is devastating to both me and my family. Sal was 88 but lived younger than that-always upbeat with a smile!!!

We never had a disagreement or cross word between us except when it came to the Yankees!!! I was always a Dodger fan back then and a Tiger fan now, so that explains who always came out on top. We always stayed in touch through visits and frequent phone calls even though we've been in Michigan for 45 years and R.I. and Conn. before that. Even though we will continue his grieve his passing, we firmly believe he's now having a great time celebrating a new life with Mom, Dad, Teresa and other family and friends that passed earlier. Catholics believe this from our teaching of the "Resurrection of the Body" which promises consolation as follows:"Life is changed not ended, and when this Earthly Dwelling turns to dust, an Eternal Dwelling is made ready for them in Heaven".
Sal, you will forever be in our prayers.
Ralph and Majiel Costanzo
