MECHANICVILLE - Philomena Anne DiBello, 87, of Round Lake Ave, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday while resting at home. Born in Mechanicville on January 28, 1930, daughter of Peter and Mary Ambersine Clements, Phyl was a Mechanicville High School Graduate. For many years, Phyl was a secretary at Montgomery Ward in Menands until the store closed in the mid 70’s. She later worked in the office of the DiSiena Furniture stores for several years.
She was an active member of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. She was a big part of the church’s annual Feast of the Assumption, helping to organize the event as well as working the day of the feast itself.
A huge NY Yankee and NY Football Giants fan, Phyl also enjoyed watching golf. An avid horseracing fan, she and husband Slim enjoyed going to the track and she also frequented the Bingo hall and rarely missed playing the daily numbers.
In addition to her parents, Phyl is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Vincent “Slim” DiBello who died in 2000 as well as siblings Peter Clements Sr., Anna Nisler, Carmella Villa and Lena Barber.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law Janet and Joe Carney of Mechanicville, three grandchildren Danielle(Christopher) Farina, Kelly(Michael) Lucarelli, and Mark(Rose) Carney, 7 great grandchildren: Samantha, Ethan and Camryn Farina, Ashley, Damian and Gabriella Lucarelli and Tyler Carney, devoted sister Catherine Lynch, brother in law Anthony(Donna) DiBello of East Greenbush and many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12:30 PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 N Main Street, Mechanicville with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
