SCHAGHTICOKE - On March 18th, at the age of 93, Harry Keyishian passed away at home in the loving presence of his family. Harry was born in N.Y.C. and was the son of Nouvel and Filanie Keyishian. He grew up in the town of Colonie. Harry attended Mount Pleasant High School, graduating in 1942.
Harry was a farmer for his entire life. In 1948, when he married the love of his life, Alice Dildarian, he started out on his own farm. In 1965, the family moved to River Rd. in Schaghticoke. There, the farming continued on the larger scale. Harry sold quality produce to Albany Public Markets, as well as selling sweet corn and vegetables at Alice’s Stand.
Harry was a member of the Menands Market and served on the board of directors for many years. After “retiring” from agriculture, Harry then started his own wholesale flower business and found much success in growing a variety of bedding plants. He and Alice worked side by side for the duration of their 65 year marriage
Harry was a very hard working man who took great pride in his work and his family. Harry was big hearted, generous, and sentimental. He loved his family deeply.
Harry was predeceased by his wife Alice and his brother Archie. He is survived by his son David Keyishian, his daughter Diane and son-in-law Bruce Barnett, his grandchildren Alissa (Aaron) Mosier and Christopher Barnett. He also leaves behind his nephew Michael(Eve) Keyishian, nieces Rose Marie(Anne) Warman, Lorraine(Reggie) Thorne, Carol(Dick) Sherwood, Diane(Paul) Surabian and many well loved cousins and friends.
Our Dad and Grandpa was an original. We loved him dearly and he will be truly be missed.
Calling hours for Harry will be held Sunday, March 26th from 2-5PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, Inc, 39 So Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A funeral home service on Monday the 27th will be at 11AM with burial to follow in Memory Gardens.
