Harry B. Ungeheuer, 75, of Albany NY passed away at the Heritage House, Troy NY on Saturday October 15, 2016.
The son of [Heinrich] Harry Ungeheuer and Mary O'Neil Ungeheuer, Harry was born, raised and schooled in New York City.
Harry enlisted in the Army and served his country from 1960-1963. Assigned as a paratrooper with Company D 1st Airborne Battlegroup 325th Infantry Regiment, under 82nd Airborne Division, in Fort Benning GA, he earned the rank of Sergeant. Harry was part of the deployment to Oxford MS charged with keeping peace amid integration at the University of Mississippi during the Ole Miss riot in 1962.
Harry worked as Territory Manager with Frito-Lay for the northeast region, and then with Jard, Inc. in Bennington VT.
A man of few words, Harry valued his independence. He was skilled in many trades and was fond of working on cars. Harry enjoyed dining out, going to the movies and spending time with his family.
Harry was married to Ann P. (Burrall) Ungeheuer for 34 years. In addition to Ann, he is survived by his children, Karen Miller of Waterford NY, Harry Ungeheuer (Tina) of Saratoga Springs, Mark Ungeheuer (Chiang) of Buskirk NY, Lynn Mills (William) of Rensselaer NY, Daniel Ungeheuer of Cambridge NY; also his grandchildren Erika Buckley (Gabriel), Maximillian Ungeheuer, Seth Mills, Haydn Mills, Sydney Mills, Hunter Ungeheuer and Harrison Ungeheuer.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Heritage House with making Harry feel at home, helping to keep him comfortable and for going above and beyond in extending the very best in care.
A rite of committal, with military honors will be held at the Saratoga National Cemetery on Friday October 18th at 1:30pm.
