MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Edith Aldrich Yankowski, 92, of No. Main St, died Thursday, August 7, at Saratoga Hospital, after an extended illness in the loving company of her sister Doris and niece Ethel Mae Baisley.
A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born April 6, 1922, daughter of the late Lester and Harriet Rive Aldrich, she was a homemaker who years ago worked for the former Modern Laundry of Mechanicville and Model Shirt Factory of Troy.
A member of the Mechanicville Area Senior Citizens and the Emmanuel United Church, Edith, who was affectionately as “Pic” by her family and dear friends, enjoyed family gatherings and traveling and shopping with her relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years William J. Yankowski, who died in 2000. Also predeceased by siblings Ethel Medina, Bertha Pena, Myra Petronis, Leona Fawthrop, Marion Richardson, Charles “Sonny” and Donald “Porky” Aldrich.
Survivors include three sons: Ronald (Suzanne) of Arizona, John (Kathy) of Florida and Lynn (Gail) of Hawaii, 4 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, sister Doris Aldrich of Mechanicville and sister-in-laws Carolyn Aldrich and Helen Deull along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial in Hudson View Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Funeral Home on Monday from 4-7 PM.
Remembrances may be made to either the Mechanicville Fire or Police Depts in care of the Funeral Home.
