STILLWATER - Vincent A. Laurenzo, 72, of Franklin Court, died Wed June 2nd at St. Peter's Hospital, after an extended illness.

Born in Troy, April 8, 1949, son of the late Armond J. and Emma "Arlene" Huffman Laurenzo, after graduating from Mechanicville High School, Vince enlisted in the US Army, serving with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1969-70. As a result of his Vietnam service, Vince was exposed to Agent Orange, and has dealt with its aftermath for a number of years.
Vince worked for General Electric Silicone Products in Waterford for 30 years, then later with Momentive Products Materials before retiring.
As a faithful member of the Mechanicville Fire Dept( M.F.D), Vince began his fire career with the W.B. Neilson Hose Co. # 4, then continued with the MFD when it transferred to the Central Fire Station. As a former Captain and Safety Officer, he took many young firemen under his wings, to instruct them on proper fire techniques and safety protocols . For many years, Vince was also the head of MFD's annual Fire Prevention program, teaching countless local students and senior citizens about the of hazards of fire and proper precautions. He also dedicated every Tuesday to working with a group of young men from the Wildwood School.
A popular member of the Mechanicville Golf Club, he assisted formation of the Thursday morning Senior League . Vince also enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid University of North Carolina Tar Heel fan. He will forever be remembered for his one of a kind sense of humor, one liners, comebacks and stories that would brighten the day of all around him.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Paulus Laurenzo, whom he married in 2003, daughters Michelle (Jon) Cash of Schaghticoke and Katy Coleman (Adam Lanza) of Albany, brothers John Paulus of Loudonville and Richard (Dawn) Laurenzo of Richfield Springs; nieces and nephews including R.J. Laurenzo, and his unofficial Fire Dept sons Alex, Matt and Nick Dunn, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter, Gabriella Cash.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Elizabeth and brother Raymond Laurenzo.
All services will be held at the MFD Central Fire House, 55 No. Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with visitation on Monday evening from 4-7 PM, and a funeral service on Tuesday at 11:30AM. Burial with military honors will be followed at the Saratoga National Cemetery at 1 PM.
