Obituary for Emma Mae "Herkie" Noyes (Senecal)

MECHANICVILLE - Emma M. Noyes, affectionately known as “Herkie”, died peacefully on January 12, 2024, after a brief illness, surrounded by her large loving family. Born in Mechanicville on February 5, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna Mae Quick Senecal Sr.

Emma worked at High Gate Manor Nursing Home in Troy for many years until it closed. She then worked at Heritage House in Troy, where she worked for over 20 years, until her retirement.

Herkie loved playing games of chance, whether it be at the Casino, in the Bingo Hall or at the racetrack. She also enjoyed visiting garage sales throughout the area, or just sitting outside reading a book. Most of all, she cherished her time babysitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a lifelong and faithful communicant of St. Luke’s on the Hill Church.

She was predeceased by her longtime companion and life partner, Joseph Spickler, as well as her grandson David Thompson and granddaughter Amanda Rich.

Survivors include her children Anna May Pisciotta, Walter Noyes(Kim), Jeffrey(Sandy)Noyes, Brian Noyes(Kathy), Karen Spickler(Wayne), and Brenda(Dennis) Wadsworth, 16 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, as well as her sister Claudia Willette, and several nieces and nephews.

Also predeceased by her siblings James Senecal Jr, Barbara Remmers, Eleanor Elkins, and Sara Senecal. The entire family is grateful for the care Brenda and Denis provided to Emma in their home, and to Debra Thompson and Community Hospice as well.

Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, January 17th from 10 AM-12 PM, at St. Luke’s on the Hill, 40 McBride Road, Mechanicville. There will be a 12PM mass followed by burial at Hudson View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Luke’s on the Hill Church.
