Obituary for Joseph D. "Joe Lightning" Pitcheralle Sr.

MECHANICVILLE - Joseph D. Pitcheralle, Sr, 82, longtime resident of Saratoga Avenue, died peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on New Years Eve, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Troy on November 5, 1941, son of the late Pasco “Pat” and Verna Rocker Pitcheralle, he was a 1959 graduate of Mechanicville High School.

“Joe Lightning”, as he was affectionately known by friends, worked for General Electric Silicone Products Division, Waterford for over 25 years, in its receiving department.

In service to the community, he served as an altar boy while in grade school, on the Board of Directors for the Mechanicville-Stillwater Little League and a manager of its Pony division Firemen team, and former 50 year member of the Mechanicville Fire Department - #4 W B Nelson (inactive).

Survivors include his sweetheart of the past 22 years, Robin Schultz, as well as his sons Patrick(Lynn Wilbur), Joseph D. Jr, Heath(Donna Rose), and Christian(Darcy) Pitcheralle, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his sister Rosa Nicola and her children Carla, Casey and David, and many friends.

Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St. Mechanicville, NY 12118 on Saturday from 12-2PM with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, next to his dearest mother Verna.
