Obituary for Michael J. "Mick" Rich

STILLWATER - Michael J. “Mick” Rich, 76. of Hudson Ave., died Sunday morning, July 23, at Albany Medical Center, after various health complications this past year.
Born in Glens Falls, Dec. 1st, 1946, son of the late John and Ida Kimberley Rich, Mick was a 1965 graduate of Stillwater Central School. Mick served with the US Army from 1966-68, held the rank of sergeant and served over a year in Germany and was honorably discharged.
Mick was a supervisor of vehicle operations for the U.S. Postal Service, in Colonie, retiring after over 25 years of service.
A sportsman, Mick enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a baseball fan, watched many games broadcasted during the MLB season. A longtime member of the American Legion Post 490, Stillwater, Mick was a proud father and grandpa, loyal brother and friend to many.
Sadly, Mick was predeceased by the love of his entire life, his wife Sharon Barbolt Rich, a loving marriage of 55 years, who died December 7, of last year. Though surely missed, the two of them are back together, watching over their loved ones.
Survivors include his two loving sons: Jason (Miriam) Rich of Stillwater and Jeromy Rich of Saratoga Springs, his two beloved grandchildren Skyler and Juneau Rich. His siblings: Joan Cummings of Saratoga Springs and Jack (Sharon) Rich of Ballston Spa , his trusted in-laws Tad and Anita Baisley of Stillwater, along with nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mick was predeceased by his sister Judy Muzio Durante and brother-in-law Robert Cummings.
A entombment service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 31st at 1:30PM at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to arrive at cemetery visitor's center at 1:15PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Legion Post 490, Lake St, Stillwater, in respectful memory of Michael J. “Mick” Rich.
