Obituary for Anthony J. "Tony" Maragno

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Saratoga Springs - Anthony (Tony) Joseph Maragno, 77, of Saratoga Springs, NY passed away on June 21, 2023, with his loving family by his side.
Tony was born in Gloversville, NY on January 31st, 1946, to the late Anthony and Irma Maragno. He grew up in Gloversville and graduated from Gloversville High School. He then went on to obtain an associate degree from Cobleskill College. While in school, Anthony met the love of his life Janice Mazzariello. They were married on June 8, 1968, and shared 55 wonderful years together before his passing.
Tony lived most of his life in Gloversville and moved to the Saratoga area later in life. He worked with his father as an electrician and were proprietors of a golf and hobby shop in downtown Gloversville. After closing the shop, he continued to work as an electrician on his own and later for the State of New York at Tryon School until his retirement.
Tony loved the game of golf. He played the game his entire life, winning the Fulton County amateur in 1975, a club championship at Nick Stoner Golf course, and was a long-time member at Pine Brook Golf club. He always made time to play, especially with family. He also kept a repair shop business in his basement, where he could be found on most nights tinkering with equipment.
He is predeceased by his parents Anthony and Irma Maragno.
Tony is survived by his wife Janice Maragno; son Chris(Jennifer) Maragno; son Anthony(Michelle) Maragno, daughter Laurie(Jeremy) Walsh; grandchildren Andrew and Evan Walsh, Anthony and Lillian Maragno; and Olivia and Sophie Maragno; and brother Robert(Cathy) Maragno.
There will be a celebration of life held at the Church of the Holy Spirit (formerly Our Lady of Mount Carmel) at 153 S. Main Street, Gloversville on June 27 at 11:00 am. A gathering for family and friends will precede the Funeral Mass from 10 - 10:45AM. Burial in St. Anthony Cemetery, Gloversville, to follow.
