EASTON - James C. Darrow, Sr, 84, of Meeting House Rd, died peacefully at Slate Valley Center on May 5, 2023, after a long illness. Born in Cambridge on December 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Clayton and Clare Thompson Darrow.
James was a cement truck driver for Clemente Latham Concrete for 37 years. Even when not working, he loved driving.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bernice “Jane” Carlo Darrow, whom he married on June 23, 1960, his children Mary Jane(Kevin) Shadwick, Patricia(Scott) Sprague, Nancy(Joel) Morrison, Karen Sprague, Michael(Cathy) Darrow, Sharon Schneibel, Peter(Richelle) Darrow, Lisa(Matthew) Fry, Aaron(Amanda) Darrow, Jonathan Darrow, Anna(Keith) Labarron, Justin(Allison) Darrow, and Gregory(Kaylen) Darrow, daughter in law Kristen Darrow(the late James Jr), Amanda Darrow(the late Nathan), 57 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren(with 1 more to be born later this month), his sister Margaret Poquette, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sons James Jr and Nathan, and siblings Dorothy, Clayton, Kenneth, and Robert.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 12 from 4-7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 10AM at North American Martyrs Chapel, 100 Boulevard, Hudson Falls, NY 12839, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Schaghticoke.
