Obituary for Norman H. Salisbury

STILLWATER – Norman H. Salisbury, 80, of Farley Rd, died at Saratoga Hospital on April 16, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in Johnsonville on February 18, 1943, son of the late Cora Hansen Salisbury and Kenneth Salisbury, he was a 1960 graduate of Hoosic Valley High School.
Norman worked as an office manager/technology specialist for several area businesses including Bove Fuels, Caterpillar, and NYS DMV. He was also the Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Stillwater for several years.
He was a longtime member and current treasurer of the Saratoga Springs Fraternal Order of Eagles 2586, and also a longtime member of the Sons of American Legion, Charles Waldron Post 731, Schaghticoke. Known throughout the area as the “Karaoke Cowboy “ and his collection of cowboy hats, Norman enjoyed square dancing and was a member of Single Squares, Latham Circle Squares and he was the president of Merry Mohicans Square Dance Club. He enjoyed gardening, taking long rides through the country, camping in the Adirondacks, and swinging on his front porch. He was also a former CYO coach, and a member of the Tri-Town Seniors.
Survivors include his loving family: son John Dyer Salisbury(the late Kathy), daughters Darcie(James) Henderson, and Rachel Salisbury-Griffen, grandchildren Jennifer, Shaun and Meaghan Salisbury and Jamie Henderson, great grandchildren Jordan, Joshua, Blakely, and Elijah, his loving partner over the last 4 years, Fran Jenkins, siblings Kenneth(Cheryl) Salisbury, Beverly Barton, James(Arlene) Salisbury, Nancy(Jim) Renner, Douglas Salisbury, Thomas(Deb) Salisbury, Richard Salisbury, Kathy(Bob) Washburn, Linda Salisbury, Karen(Jim) Ruhle, and Tim(Linda) Salisbury, half siblings Kelly Abbott, Kevin, Kent and Scott Salisbury, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday from 4-7PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A funeral home service on Saturday will begin at 11AM followed by burial in the family plot at Millertown Cemetery, Johnsonville.
