Obituary for Vivian J. Perretta (Raucci)
MECHANICVILLE - Vivian J. Perretta, 97, died Tuesday, April 11th, at home, in the loving company of her family. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born July 23, 1925, daughter of the late Gennaro “Jimmy” and Angeline DeCrescente Raucci, she was a 1943 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
A homemaker, Viv operated a ceramic studio, the Clay Hut, from her home for many years, teaching many the art of ceramics.
A fun loving lady who enjoyed the company of family and friends, Viv was a unique person, full of energy. She was talented in the art of drawing, painting, crafts, sewing and of course ceramics.
A member of the WIBC ladies bowling league for many years, the local bocce league, a member of the Daughters of the Sons of Italy, and a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church.
Viv’s life revolved around her family, her girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was upbeat and always looked at the bright side of life, and was proud to live these may years.
Sadly, her husband of 32 years, Ralph “Chappy” Perretta died in 1978, along with two daughters, Linda Berlingieri and Michele and Tony Brown.
Survivors include her daughter Andrea and Ron Baisley of Mechanicville, Sons-in-law Ralph Berlingieri and Tony Amoroso, beloved grandchildren: Laura and Joe Sheehan, Ralph and Mary Berlingieri, Leah and Derek Seik, Noel and Josh Gibeault, Anthony Amoroso and Joy and Bill Peeters, and loving great grandchildren: Beau, Grady, Alex, Daylin, Mayzie, Kerr, Petra, Harper and Arjae, along with many cousins and families.
Viv’s family thanks Joann Vredenburg, Mary Pugliese and Nancy and Dan Golden, along with Hospice nurses Colleen and Julie for all their care, compassion and concern for Viv.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday Apr 17th at 11 AM at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St, Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the No. Main St. Church Monday from 10-11 AM.
Remembrances are asked to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
