Obituary for Joan M. Mahan
MALTA - Joan M. Mahan, 73, died unexpectedly at Collar City Nursing and Rehabilitation, on March 6, 2023, while rehabilitating there after a recent fall. Born in Albany on January 17, 1950, daughter of the late John and Estelle Ryan Mahan, she was a high school graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Albany.
Joan was a payroll clerk and operator at the former NY Telephone Company in Albany, where she worked for 35 years. She enjoyed car rides and loved shopping.
Survivors include her sister Estelle(Joseph) Filkins, nephew Mark Filkins, niece Crystal Mahan and her children Zoe and Damien. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Mahan and his wife Ida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church, 201 Route 9, Round Lake, NY 12051 on Thursday, March 16th, at 10AM with burial to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Family and friends are invited to the church starting at 9:30AM.
Joan’s family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Collar City for the care and compassion shown to her during her stay.
