Obituary for Michael W. D'Aloia

MECHANICVILLE - Michael W. D’Aloia, 73, of Round Lake Ave, died peacefully on February 14, 2023, at Schuyler Ridge Residential Healthcare, after a brief illness. Born in Saratoga Springs on December 12, 1949, son of the late Michael “Poncho” and Mildred O’Brien D’Aloia, he was a 1967 graduate of Mechanicville High School, and received his degree in Elementary Education at SUNY Oneonta.
Mike began his career as a elementary teacher within the Shenendehowa School District, however, his career was cut short due to injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident in 1973. After years of rehabilitation, he was able to get back into the education field, working as a Recreational Aide for the Wilton Developmental Center for nearly 20 years, before retiring in 2002.
Mike loved music, just about any genre but especially the Blues. He also enjoyed car rides and had a great appetite, especially for Italian food. After his accident, Mike found comfort in his faith and became a bible study enthusiast. He was also a longtime volunteer at the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center Food Pantry.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Donna M. D’Aloia, and brother in law Donald Quinlivan Sr.
Michael is survived by his sister Barbara Quinlivan, his nieces and nephews Andrea (Mitchell) Keays, Kevin (Rachel) Walsh, Donald (Amanda) Quinlivan Jr, and Melissa Shutter, his aunts Sr. Dolores D’Aloia S.A., Sr. Barbara D’Aloia S.A., and Julia Brownell, friend Terry Baxter, and several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Michael was also very fortunate to have Gregory and Mary Ann Charon in his life. They were longtime friends and caregivers who offered tremendous comfort to Mike throughout the years, and who also always kept his best interests in mind.
The family would also like to give special thanks to the staff at Schuyler Ridge for the nearly 5 years of care and compassion given to Mike.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Monday, Feb 20th at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 N Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A gathering for family and friends will be at the church starting at 10AM.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Mechanicville Area Comm Services Ctr(MACSC), PO Box 30, Mechanicville, NY 12118 in memory of Michael W. D’Aloia.
