Obituary for Gary H. Nelson
MECHANICVILLE - Gary H. Nelson, 59, of West St., passed away peacefully at home early Thursday morning, February 2nd. Born in Troy, April 17, 1963, he is the son of John “Jack” (Suzanne) Nelson of Rensselaer and the late Sylvia Neddo, and former husband of the late Diane Miranda Nelson.
Gary was a supervisor in the wood shop of Saratoga Bridges ARC for 5 years, until disabled retired due to health issues. He had previously worked at Quad Graphics of Saratoga and Crestline Windows.
A past commander of Post 91 Sons of the American Legion, Mechanicville, a former sportsman of fishing and hunting, Gary enjoyed tending his vegetable and flower gardens, loved music and was a football fan, a dedicated NY Giants fan.
Survivors in addition to his father include his loving companion of 26 years, Susan Klein, two children: Amy (Tony) Cremo of Rexford and Daniel (Geena DiNardo) Nelson of Mechanicville, grandchildren: Leanna, Ava , Ellerie and Noah. Siblings Jack (Alonna) Nelson of Mechanicville, Tom (Donna) Nelson of Coxsackie, Robert Nelson of Iowa and Donna (Jim) Rando of Mechanicville and Carl (Amy) Nelson of Ct., along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Gary’s family gives many thanks to Landmark Health Services for their care and concern dealing with Gary’s respiratory health.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb 8th at 2 PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville, with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling Hrs for family and friends will be at Funeral Home Wed from Noon till 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of choice in memory of Gary H Nelson.
