Obituary for David J. "The Deej" Baker

HALFMOON - David “The Deej“ Baker, 75, of Crescent City MHP, died at Ellis Hospital on January 25, 2023, after a brief illness. Born on January 12, 1948, son of the late George and Helen Baker, he graduated from Moriah Central School and shortly after served in the US Air Force for 4 years and the US Army for 6 years until his Honorable discharge in 1978.
He most recently worked for Lowes in Halfmoon for many years. At home he enjoyed time with family, music, playing the guitar, and had an amazing sense of humor. He was also a CB Radio enthusiast, sharing the passion with his entire family. Known on air as “Flamedancer”, he enjoyed his time on the CB with his wife Gay, or as he knew her, “Lady G”.
Predeceased by his loving wife, Gay Velma Baker and his daughter Wendy Nichols, he is survived by his daughter Janet(Emil) Buckmiller, son in law Dan Nichols, grandchildren Shaun(Audrey) Welden, Brian Buckmiller, Danielle Ostrom, and Shanna Nichols, great grandchildren Sydney Lou and Zoey, and siblings Patricia Fabiani, Lisa(Gary) Moore and Mike(Carol) Baker, as well as several nieces and nephews. David was also predeceased by his brother George “Buck” Baker and brother in law Nick Fabiani.
Calling hours at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 on February 10, 2023 from 11-1PM. A Funeral Home service will follow at 1PM with military honors and inurnment to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
