Obituary for Maria F. Fantauzzi

MECHANICVILLE - Maria F. Fantauzzi, 81, longtime Mechanicville resident, died peacefully on January 12, 2023 at the Glens Falls Center, following a brief illness.
Born in Troy on September 6, 1941, daughter of the late Daniel and Christine Iannucci Fantauzzi, she was a 1959 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
Known as Marie by all, she graduated Mildred Elley Business School in 1961. She worked for the NYS Department of Education, within their Licensure Division, for more than 38 years and truly loved her career and the job she held. She was a major contributor in the modernization of the office, specifically its change over to the new computer technologies available at the time.
Marie was a past president and longtime member of the Junior Dante Club. A devout catholic, she was a lifetime member of the All Saints on the Hudson Parish. She was heavily involved in the church’s Faith Formation program and held a special place in her heart for the yearly retreats she participated in. Marie was also a Disney and Looney Tunes enthusiast.
In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her lifelong friend, Sylvia D’Alberto.
Survivors include her brother Damian(Ann) Fantauzzi of Middle Grove, her sister Ann(Bob) Millett of Bath, PA, nieces and nephews Zachary Fantauzzi, Caitlyn Stocking, Danielle Heimsoth and Courtney Millett, as well as great nieces and nephews Isabelle, Anthony and Remi. Marie was also survived by a host of Sylvia’s family members who always treated her like she was their own family and whom Marie loved very much.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:00pm at All Saints on the Hudson Church(St. Paul’s), 121 No. Main Street, Mechanicville, with burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the church, prior to the mass, on Saturday from 10:30am – 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints on the Hudson, 52 William Street, Mechanicvile, in loving memory of Maria Fantauzzi.
