Obituary for Frederick J. "Fred" Jones
STILLWATER - Frederick J. Jones, 74, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on January 10, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in Troy on May 20, 1948, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Toomey Jones Sr.
A US Marine Corps veteran who served aboard the USS Roosevelt, Fred was a Motorcoach operator for Yankee Trails for 37 years until his sudden retirement this past summer after falling ill. Fred loved his job and the interactions with his passengers. He had a great sense of humor, often entertaining passengers, and also family and friends while off the job. He was a lover of music who was the life of the party. He was also an avid Xbox gamer, especially golf, and he also enjoyed “exploring the world” through YouTube videos.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years together for 58 years Linda Thomas Jones, daughters Michele(Lorraine) Heaton and Tammy(Rich Blyth) Jones, and his son Michael(Lisa Martin) Jones. He was the best Poppy to his granddaughter Kassandre Jones, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond, and his siblings Michael(Rosmary), Thomas(Margaret), James(Patricia) and Kathleen(Buddy), as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Andrew Gaudet, and siblings William Jones Jr, Ellen Spenard and Patricia King.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced by his family.
