Obituary for Bettina M. Chauvin

MECHANICVILLE - Bettina “B” Chauvin, 88, of Mechanicville, passed away peacefully January 10, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents Nickolas and Lena Izzo, her brother, Nickolas Izzo, and her beloved husband of 65 years, Martin Chauvin.

On April 16, 1955, Bettina married Martin Vincent Chauvin, beginning a beautiful marriage and family. To Bettina, family was her whole heart, and she demonstrated that every day. Whether it was cooking beautiful meals, caring for her grandchildren, or creating lasting memories and traditions surrounding every holiday, Bettina ensured her love was always palpable. To “Grandma B”, every event was important and she never missed a moment, no matter how big or small. She was known to keep photos in her pocketbook to share (and brag a little!) whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Bettina instilled a love of reading, and she and her husband frequented the Mechanicville Public Library. She took pride in her local community and was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Music remained one of her greatest joys through late adulthood and she was always delighted if she could find a partner who could polka.

Bettina is survived by her son Martin Chauvin (Barbara) of Halfmoon, NY; and daughters Patricia Chauvin of Poughkeepsie, NY; Laura Chauvin (Dean Wiggs) of Gaithersburg, MD; Caroline Chauvin (Richard White) of Ballston Lake, NY; Ann Chauvin (Chris Wiggs) of Arlington, VA; along with seven grandchildren: Daniel Chauvin (wife Rebecca and daughter Madelyn), Dr. Lauren Berninger, Justin Wiggs (wife Nicole and son Liam), Kevin Chauvin, Matthew Berninger, Emily White (husband Christopher and son Dominic) and Jessica Wiggs. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Emilia Izzo, as well as many cherished nephews, nieces, and friends.
