Obituary for Wanda M. Watson (Prescott)

MALTA - Wanda M. Watson, 82, of Springfield Dr, died peacefully at Saratoga Hospital on December 25, Christmas Day, after a series of recent illnesses. Born in Cohoes on January 29, 1940, daughter of the late Lloyd and Thelma (Penders) Prescott, she was a 1958 graduate of Catholic Central High School, Troy, NY.
Prior to retiring in 2004, Wanda worked for 12 years as the parish secretary at St. Peter’s Church, Stillwater, NY. In addition, she worked for Grand Union as a bookkeeper at its North Troy location.
Wanda also enjoyed her time home as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with them all. She also had an incredible knack for finding the best greeting cards for any occasion.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Peter H. Watson Sr, whom she married on May 30, 1961, as well as her children Tonya(Robert) Sanderson of Melrose, Peter(Colleen) Watson Jr of Colonie, and Dannielle Watson Varghese of Saratoga Springs. Also her beloved grandchildren Jennifer(Matthew) Mainello, Emily(Bryan) Vandenburgh, Brett(Elinor), Sean(Kayleigh), Kevin(Brianna) and Kelsey Watson, Lucas, Nicholas and Genevieve Varghese, great grandchildren Charlotte and Cooper Vandenburgh, Madelyn Mainello, Liam Watson and Fallon Watson, her sister Beverly(Thomas) Nash and brother Lloyd “Bud” (Susan) Prescott, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother Torrance Prescott.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11AM at The Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions, in loving memory of Wanda M. Watson, be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org , as she regularly supported this organization.
