Obituary for Donald A. Chaput Sr.

STILLWATER – Donald A. Chaput, Sr, 86 of Saratoga Hills, died Sunday, Nov. 6th at Stratton VA Medical Ctr, Albany, after a long illness. Born in Halfmoon, July 24, 1936, son of the late Edgar and Gertrude Chaput, Don enlisted in the US Navy, serving 4 years and then joined the US Air Force, honorably discharged in 1961.

Previously, Don was a member of the transportation staff of Saratoga Bridges of Malta for a number of years. Donald also drove buses for Yankee Trails, and then prior to that, he served as a Deck-hand with the Kehoe Bros Tug Boat staff of Albany.
Don enjoyed Cooking, Fishing, Bowling,playing Cards, Camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Cora Burdick Chaput, children: Dawn (Tom Dolan) Chaput, Kim Bishop, Todd Lewis, Donna (Robert Jr.) Rose, Don (Jodie) Chaput, Jr, Tom Chaput, Tracy (Tom Minor) and Elaine (Mitch) Raysor. Don and Cora shared 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Also, surviving brothers are Larry and Tom Chaput and sister Joan Bariteau. Don was pre-deceased by his daughter-in-law Judy Lewis, brother William Chaput and sister Elaine Blizzard.

An inurnment service with military honors will be held on Monday, Nov. 14th at 11AM at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Family and Friends are asked to arrive at the Cemetery by 10:45 AM.
