Obituary for Gloria C. Izzo (Ture)

MECHANICVILLE - Gloria C. Izzo, 91, of Broadway, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on November 5, 2022, with her loving family at her side. Born in Saratoga Springs on February 8, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Julia Mangini Ture and wife of the late Frank “Popeye” Izzo.
Prior to meeting the love of her life, Glo went to beauty school in Schenectady and later became a beautician wherein she worked in Saratoga for several years.
Once a mother, Glo relished in the joy of caring for her 5 children and then eventually her grand and great children. She attended any academic and athletic events they had, and cherished their Sunday family dinners through the years. She loved to cook for any and all who attended. She always looked forward to yearly vacations and family get-togethers where she would almost always be the last one up, never willing to miss any late night fun.
Glo was a gift to all who knew her, she loved passionately and was loved in return. She didn’t miss a chance to call her loved ones and sing Happy Birthday to them.

Sadly, in addition to her husband Frank, Glo was also predeceased by her two sons, Nicholas Sr. and Frank Jr, both within the past 2 years, as well as her brother Isadore Ture.

Survivors include her children David(Suzanne) Izzo, Angela(John) Mulligan, and Maria(Tom) Welch, daughters in law Yvonne and Stephanie Izzo, her cherished grandchildren David D., David Jr., Daniel, Christopher, Paul, Nicholas, Gregory, Zachary, Thomas, Josh and Cassie, and 10 great grandchildren. Also her beloved sisters Frances “Cookie”(Bud) LaPlante and Anita LaFarr, and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria’s family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to her wonderful neighbors Lucy and Nicola, as well as her aides Pat and Sarah, for the care, concern and compassion shown to her when she needed it most.

Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, on Wednesday evening from 4-7 PM. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday at 9AM followed by burial at Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208.
