Obituary for Shirley F. Champlin

MECHANICVILLE - Shirley F. Champlin, 89, died peacefully at Baptist Health Center on November 2, 2022 after a brief illness. Born in Cambridge on November 22, 1932, daughter of the late Wilfred and Minnie O’Dell Fountain, she was a 1949 graduate of Whitehall High School.
Shirley had a long working career, the first 25 years as a secretary for D&H Railroad and then finishing her career at John Carriero & Son Insurance Co, Mechanicville, where she was a Licensed Agent for nearly 25 more years, retiring in 2011.
She was a longtime and dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Upton Chapter 679. She was also an avid reader and she loved her cats. Above all else, she was a devoted, caring, and loving mother and grandmother. Her children continue on in life blessed with the amazing love they were given by her.
Her husband of 47 years, James P. Champlin, passed away in 2002 and she was also predeceased by her son in law Kenneth Lattimore, and her sisters Marion Coon and Harriet Therrien.
Survivors include her children, Michele A. Weber of Burnt Hills, Mary Jean Lattimore of Mechanicville, James(Susan) Champlin of Stillwater, grandchildren Jason Champlin, Javon Manners, Deanna(David) Rahe, Daniel Champlin, Kristopher and Karly Lattimore and James(Michelle) Champlin, great grandchildren Payten, Owen, Kyzer, Lydia, Jacob, and Gregory and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with Eastern Star ritual and funeral service to follow starting at 6:30PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Baptist Health Center Resident Bus Fund, 297 N Ballston Ave, Scotia, NY 12302 in memory of Shirley Champlin.
