Obituary for Bernard Benny Dragonette

Mechanicville - Benny Dragonette, 94 of Round Lake Ave, died Thursday morning at Baptist Nursing Home, Scotia, after a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, April 10, 1928, son of the late Angelo and Anna Cafaro Dragonette. In 1946 after High School, Benny enlisted in the US Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater, clearing away coastal mines and debris from naval battles.
Benny had various jobs during his lifetime, lastly as a security member of Pinkertons Agency of Troy.
A member of the Italian Fraternal Society, he enjoyed the dart and bocce leagues, and was a baseball fan of the NY Mets.
Benny was honored by participating in a Patriot Flight in Sept 2014, flying with other US Veterans to Washington DC and toured the WWII monument and other historical sites.
Benny was predeceased by his wife Joan DeLong Dragonette in 2008, and recently his daughter Ann Hebert of Averill Park. Also predeceased by brothers and sisters: Micky Pollicino, Nancy Esposito, Mary Genevick, Rose Gooley, Molly Duell, Yolanda Schiavone, Orlando, Joseph and Peter Dragonette
Survivors include his two sons Angelo and Jeffery (April) Dragonette both of Mechanicville, son-in-law Mark Hebert of Averill Park, grand and great grandchildren, brother Julius (Agnes) Dragonette of Latham, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov 1st at 1:30 PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville. Calling hours on Tuesday from 11:30 AM until services at 1:30 PM
Burial with military honors at Saratoga National Cemetery to follow at 2:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to an area Ronald McDonald House in memory of Benny Dragonette.
