Obituary for Christopher J. Lavigne
MECHANICVILLE Christopher J. Lavigne, 44, died tragically, Thursday morning, Sept 1st, while fishing on Saratoga Lake.
Born in Niskayuna, February 16, 1978, son of John and Kathryn “Kit” McCarthy Lavigne of Stillwater, Chris was a 1996 graduate of Stillwater Central School.
Chris was a technician for Evonic of Gansevoort, previously had been a water tech for Quick Response, and years ago had worked for Gavin and Parker landscaping.
A hard and conscientious worker, Chris loved the solitude and challenge of fishing anywhere there was a body of water, recently Chris began playing golf and enjoyed hiking the great outdoors
He loved the company of his family and friends, and would help anybody with any task.
Survivors in addition to his parents include his two brothers: Shawn (Deena) of Stillwater and Patrick (Domenica) of Ballston Spa, along with two nieces, Tabitha and Racheal . Also Aunts, Susan McCarthy (Warren Kretzchmar), Ann Marie Erno, Betty (James) Luste and Agnes Lavigne, Uncle Joe Lavigne, many cousins and their families.
Chris was sadly predeceased by his brother Michael, grandparents Joe and Irene Lavigne, John and Betty McCarthy, Uncles Morris and Ted Lavigne.
UPDATE - Calling hours will be Friday, September 9th from 4-7PM at All Saints on the Hudson Church(St. Peter’s), 895 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater, NY 12170. A Funeral Mass will begin immediately after the calling hours, at 7PM.
Chris’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the volunteer fire depts., Saratoga County Sheriffs Dept, NY State Police, Stillwater Police Dept, and anyone who assisted in our Son’s recovery.
