Obituary for James M. Peacock

STILLWATER - James MacArthur Peacock, 79, lifelong resident of Stillwater, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022. A New Years Day baby, he was born in 1943, son of the late Arthur and Mildred Campbell Peacock. He was a Stillwater High School graduate who later joined the US Army and served his country proudly from 1962-64. Shortly after returning home from the Army, he started his long career with General Electric in Waterford where he was a pipe fitter and operations mechanic, working nearly 40 years before retiring in 2004.
Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and recently fell in love with biking and kayaking. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR on the weekends. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 490, an active member of the American Revolution reenactment volunteers at the Stillwater Blockhouse, and was also a legacy member of the Newland Wood Fire Department. Over the past 13 years, Jim found tremendous joy in delivering Meals on Wheels as a volunteer for his local communities.
Most of all, Jim was a devoted father and grandfather who rarely missed an academic or athletic event. He was a staple of Stillwater High School sporting events.
Jim was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Kathryn M. Peacock, who died in 2017.
Survivors include his sons William and his wife Laura Peacock of Clifton Park, Jay Peacock(Renee LaVigne) of Stillwater, grandchildren Devin, Brody, Keelyn and Kylie Peacock, sisters Maxine Peacock of Albany and Christy(John Murphy) Peacock of Stillwater and niece Katelynn(Wallen) Murphy-Harper, and his loving companion and best friend over the last several years, Sue Cavotta.

Calling hours will be held at All Saints on the Hudson North Church(St. Peter’s), 895 Hudson Ave, Stillwater, NY 12170 on Thursday, July 14th from 5-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 15th at 10:30AM followed by military honors and burial alongside his wife at the Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, Saratoga County Office of the Aging, 152 West High Street, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 in loving memory of James M. Peacock..
