JOHNSONVILLE - Sandra “Kay” Akin, 61, of Otter Creek Rd, died peacefully at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Manhattan, on July 5, 2022 following a brief illness. Born in Schenectady on November 24, 1960, she was the daughter of M. Hope Davis of Schaghticoke and the late Thomas Davis.

Kay was a longtime teacher at the Brittonkill Central School District, working for 34 years before retiring in 2016, just in time to start her new role as Grammy. She loved time spent with family, especially her trips to York Beach, Maine, Ocean City, MD, Jupiter City, FL and Bonita Springs, FL. Her patriotism always shined through and she loved the American Flag.
No question about it, Kay’s true passion in life was her ever growing family. In addition to her mother Hope, she is survived by her husband of 39 years, Glenn B. Fane, mother in law Winifred Akin, in laws Richard(Sue), Howard(Kari), Dale(Kelly) and Todd(Jean) Akin, as well as many other loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father in law Richard Akin. She also leaves behind her best friend Gail Warren and her daughter, Julie Mason, who the family wishes to thank for being so instrumental in helping Kay and her family navigate through the medical processes of these difficult times.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 11th from 10AM - 1PM at the Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 St. Rte 40, Schaghticoke, NY 12154. A funeral service will take place immediately after the visitation, followed by a burial service in Elmwood Cemetery.
