Obituary for Arthur Fitzpatrick

STILLWATER - Arthur F. Fitzpatrick, 97, of Brickyard Rd., Wednesday, May 11th, at his home, following a brief illness. Born in Mechanicville, Nov. 18th, 1924, son of the late Arthur and Alice Green Fitzpatrick, Art graduated from Mechanicville High School, enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII, serving as a staff sergeant on a B-17 as a belly gun operator in the European Theatre of Operations.
After his military service, Art worked at Pruyn Lumber for years, and later at GE Silicone Plant in Waterford.
Art enjoyed traveling across the country several times, camping in the Adirondacks, enjoyed wood working and was an avid reader.
Sadly, Art was predeceased by his wife Joan Conroy Fitzpatrick in 2009, his daughter Kathy, son-in-law Albert Kearney and granddaughter Angel Kroup. Also siblings Helen and Dauno Makitalo, Mary and George Luther, William and Shirley Fitzpatrick, and Joseph Fitzpatrick.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Kearney, sons Thomas Fitzpatrick and Richard (Pam Bourassa) Fitzpatrick, very special grandchildren Richard (Grace) Fitzpatrick, Adam Kroup and Brandi (Sam) Menfi, great grandchildren Mina, Paje, Naven, Cinna-Marie, Luna, Cora, Linkin, Susan, Freddie , Layla, sister-in-law Sylvia Fitzpatrick, along with caring nieces, nephews and special friends and neighbors who kept checking on him, namely Peggy Mehok, Vicky Jupin, Janice Potter, Marilyn Butler and the Yankowski and McNeil families, along with his home health aide Andrea.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Monday morning from 8:45 AM to 9:45 AM, with military honors and burial service at 10:30AM, at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
