Obituary for Carl F. Fabi

MECHANICVILLE - Carl Francis Fabi, 85, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022. Carl was born and lived in Mechanicville for his entire life. The fearless leader of the family, Carl was a U.S. Marine, who later worked at the Norton Company for 15+ years and as a rural carrier for 43 years. He was extremely proud of the family that he and his wife Nancy raised; he wanted nothing but success for each and every one of them. He and Nancy enjoyed spending time with their lifelong best friends Joseph and Mary Carol Lanzone, going on winter getaways in Florida, weekend bus trips to Foxwoods, and Saturday dinner and church runs. His favorite pastimes included growling at his grandkids, especially his namesake Carl Lawrence, telling them that they did everything wrong, joking every single employee at Mechanicville Price Chopper, waiting for his County Waste buddies weekly and watching OTB.

He is survived by his five children, Patricia (Edward) Ryder, Charles Fabi, Catherine (David) Ryan, Mary (Salvatore) Cimino, and Barbara (Raymond) Ruchel; 9 grandchildren, Edward, Carl (Katlynn), Mary Catherine (Matthew), Megan (Scott), Micaela (Sean), Benjamin, Salvatore (Kristen), Samuel, and Sarah; and 5 great-grand-children, Cassidy (The General), Aria, Lucas, Colt and Maxine.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles A. and Carmella M. Fabi as well as his beloved wife Nancy of 62 years, whom he worshipped more than anything. He dedicated every ounce of energy caring for her during an extended battle with Alzheimer’s before losing her just seven months ago.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, Feb 23rd from 10a.m. – 12 p.m. at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville NY 12118. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, starting at 12:30 p.m. and held at All Saints On The Hudson Catholic Church (St. Paul's), 121 N Main St, Mechanicville NY 12118 with burial to follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery where he will spend his eternal rest next to "the best lady ever". In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
