Obituary for Judith A. DiVirgilio

MECHANICVILLE - Judith Ann DiVirgilio, 74, lifelong resident of Mechanicville, died peacefully with family at her side at Schenectady Rehabilitation Center on December 4, 2021, after a 3 year decline in health due to Alzheimer’s Disease. Born in Troy on February 8, 1947, daughter of the late Vitus and Elizabeth Fusco Sandulla, she was a 1965 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
Judy worked as a Stenographer and Mayor's Secretary in the City of Mechanicville for 38 years. A truly giving person, Judy volunteered her time to many organizations within the city. She was a longtime member of Court St. Paul # 71, Catholic Daughters of America and always participated in the Adopt a Family program during the holiday season.
For all that knew her, Judy loved shopping! Especially when it came to her grandchildren. She always loved spoiling all of her grandchildren. At home she enjoyed cooking for her family and playing board games with them. She was also an avid bingo player. Most of all, the time she spent with her children and grandchildren was paramount in her life. Yearly trips with family to Cape Cod and the annual "Lake George without the parents" trip were two of her favorite times.
Judy is survived by her two loving daughters and their families, Denise(Jack) McGonigle of Clifton Park and Leah(William Sr) Coreno of Mechanicville, grandchildren McKenzie Sgueglia, Michael, David, and William Jr Coreno, her beloved aunt Anna Fascia, former son in law Nick Sgueglia, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her sister Beth Shiffert. She was predeceased by her grandson Vitus Dominick Coreno, sister Jean Guilianelle, mother in law Joyce DiVirgilio and uncle Carmine Fusco.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Thursday from 4:30-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10AM at All Saints on the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., Mechanicville with burial to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 4 Pine West Plaza #405, Albany, NY 12205, in loving memory of Judy A. DiVirgilio.
