Obituary for Kevin P. Helferich

MECHANICVILLE - Kevin P. Helferich, 71, of Saratoga Ave, died peacefully at the Stratton VA Medical Center, on November 8, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in Troy on March 2, 1950, son of the late Henry and Eleanor Morrissey Helferich, he was a 1969 graduate of Cohoes High School.
After high school, Kevin joined the US Army and fought alongside fellow veterans during the Vietnam War, for 10 months, before his honorable discharge and return home in 1971. It was then that he started his long career with Morgan Linen, Menands, where he worked as a Production Manager, before retiring in 2012 after 42 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 1644, Riverside and formerly Post 91, Mechanicville as well as the Mechanicville Stillwater Elks Lodge, the Saratoga Eagles and the Veterans of Lansingburgh. He enjoyed boating, woodworking and was a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan.
Survivors include his daughter Shannon Helferich(Jay) of Mechanicville, son Jonathon Helferich(Tara) of Latham, grandchildren Joseph Foy IV, Isabella and Carson Helferich, siblings James(Kathleen) Helferich, Colleen Cleary(Gary), and Kimberly(Daniel) Bonomo, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov 16th from 10:30AM - 12:30PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with a funeral home service to follow starting at 12:30PM. Military Honors and burial will immediately follow at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
