Obituary for Edward J Schukes Jr.

MALTA - Edward J. Schukes, Jr, 65, died unexpectedly on October 19, 2021. Born in Troy on February 9, 1956, son of the late Edward J Schukes Sr. and Beverly Thompson Kyhn, he attended St. Paul's Parochial School and was a 1975 graduate of Mechanicville, High School.
Ed worked as a chemical operator for G.E. Silicone and later Momentive Performance Materials, Waterford for over 35 years until retiring in 2016. He was a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion, Henry F Lefko Post 1644, Riverside.
In his earlier years, Ed was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and time spent fishing at his camp on Cossayuna Lake, where he enjoyed summers spent with his family. He also enjoyed the family vacations they shared in Maine. Ed was a Jets fan, Yankees fan and loved watching NASCAR. Ed enjoyed taking rides "wherever" and was known to stop in and visit with people along the way. He especially loved visiting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Charlene Lashway Schukes, whom he married on July 25, 1981, son Stephen and his wife Sara Schukes, of Greenwich, daughter Amy and her husband Patrick Collery of Mechanicville, grandchildren Gunner, Adrianna, Danika and Ivan, sisters JoAnn(Ted) St. Marie and Debbie Coon, mother in law Jeanette Rescott and several other in laws, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his sister Barbie Schukes and brother in law Don "Ducky" Coon.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 10AM - Noon with a funeral home service to follow. Burial alongside his sister Barbie in Hudson View Cemetery will follow the service.
