Obituary for Laura T. Welch (Fruci)

MECHANICVILLE - Laura T. Fruci Welch, 93, of So. Second Ave, died suddenly Sunday Sept 12th at her home, after dealing with various medical conditions.
A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born January 10, 1928, daughter of the late Dominic and Gilda DePaul Fruci.
Laura was a machine operator for Tagson Paper Co., first in Mechanicville and later in Menands, for 30 years, before retirement. She had previously worked at Cluett's of Troy.
An avid reader, who enjoyed playing the piano to entertain her family and friends, she had bowled for many years. She was an avid NY Yankee fan who enjoyed watching their games. A great cook, her Italian specialties were enjoyed by family and friends alike. A member of All Saints on the Hudson Church, Laura and her husband enjoyed travelling about the country, and her parents Italian homeland. The highlight of Laura's life was the loving company of her children, siblings and their families
Sadly, Laura was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Bill in 1995 and her siblings Anthony and Rita Fruci, Veronica and Bob Lenihan, Marie and Bob Paul and brother-in-law Primo DeVito.
Survivors include her three daughters: Denise (Mike Miranda) Welch of Mechanicville, Deborah (John) Merchant of Stillwater, Tina (Tim) Bell of Gansevoort and her son Thomas (Maria) Welch, Stillwater. Grandchildren: Amanda Flowers, Pam Duffey, Crista Bernard, Jacqueline Merchant, Brittany Marcotte, Dominique Bell and Thomas Welch, Jr, and great grandchildren Terra, Alana, Ricardo, Kendall, Keira and Lucas. Also her sister Carmella "Tookie" DeVito and brother Dominick (Lori) Fruci, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM, Thursday at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 North Main St, with burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
Laura's family gives special thanks to their Mom's medical aides, Chichi, Vidya, Rena and Vidy.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
