Obituary for Philip Sabatino

STILLWATER - Philip Sabatino, 92, of Colonial Road, died Thursday morning, Sept 9th, at home, in the loving company of his family.
Born in Mechanicville, Dec 18, 1928, son of the late Joseph and Josephine Friello Sabatino. Phil served in the US Army during the Korean War. A former employee of Wesvaco in Mechanicville, for many years, until the plant closed in 1970. Thereafter, Phil worked for over 20 years at the Knolls APL, West Milton site as a Machinist and labor leader, retiring in 1991.
In younger days, Phil enjoyed fishing with his father-in-law and family. He also bowled for many years. The oldest member of the Mechanicville Golf Club, Phil up to the last year, played almost daily After many years of golfing, Phil had the joy of making a Hole In One at the MGC, several years ago. He was a well liked and best dressed member, and was always ready to play with the clubs youth, giving game tips and etiquette. He was also a longtime member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Philomena DeFelice Sabatino, two loyal sons: Philip and wife Kate Sabatino, Jr of Ballston Spa and Mark and wife Danielle Sabatino of Stillwater. Proud grandchildren: Carol Ann (Ricky) Bozzo, Rebecca Marie (Stephen) Cook and Mark Sabatino, Jr, along with great grandchildren Lili, Sarah, Joe and Matthew, and brothers-in-law Eugene Raucci and Fred Batchelder.
In addition to his parents, predeceased by brother Joe (Theresa)and Frank (Shirley), and sisters Grace Bartnick, Angela Raucci and Patty Batchelder.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday from 5 - 7 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville.
A Burial service with military honors will be Tuesday at 10 AM at Saratoga National Cemetery. For those wishing to attend, please arrive at the cemetery by 9:45 AM
