Obituary for Mary A. Kiley (Hayner)

STILLWATER - Mary Hayner Kiley, 89, of Hudson
Ave. died in the comfort of her home, Monday evening, August 30th, as a result
of natural causes. Born in Cohoes, May 23, 1932, daughter of the late Everett and
Charlotte Brenn Hayner, and a 1950 graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake
Central
For 34 years, Mary was the State Account and Budgeting Officer at the Division of Military and Naval Affairs office in Latham, retiring in 1987. Mary was the first civilian, and female, to obtain that position.
During her employ, Mary was a very valued staff member, who could
or would be able to solve internal problems, receiving thanks and praise from
the military staff. Over the years, Mary and her husband Matt traveled a lot, in fact
visiting all U.S. states, except Hawaii. Many of those states traveled to were
for Matt's WWII Timberwolves reunions.
She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed reading, cross stitching,
scrapbooking all her travels, and chronicled her, her children's, and her
grandchildren's lives.
Sadly, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Matthew who
died in 2013, and a daughter Sharon in 2019.
Survivors include her daughter Linda (Tim) Shudt, Sr. of Lake George,
son Bill (Kelly) Kiley of Somersworth, N.H., grandchildren: Steven (Jillian)
Kiley, Sarah (Lance) MacIntosh, Allison (Edgar) Torres and Tim (Janna) Shudt,
Jr, along with great grandson Easton Shudt. Also her locally residing siblings: Nick (Stasia) Hayner, Mildred "Babe" Lee, Art (Gale) Hayner, Carol Hadigan and Jay Hayner, along with nieces, nephews and their families.
Just as her husband, Mary donated her body to the Anatomical Gift
program at Albany Medical College, to further advance medical and future
doctor's training.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, Sept 18th at the
DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St, Mechanicville, with calling hours
from 1-3 PM and a service to follow at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Saratoga National
Cemetery Honor Guard Assoc, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, 12871 in respectful memory of Mary Hayner Kiley.
