Obituary for Joseph Francis Giambona

BALLSTON SPA – Joseph F. Giambona, 63, longtime resident of Ballston Spa, died suddenly on August 28, 2021 while camping in the Adirondacks. Born in Troy on October 13, 1957, son of the late Orazio and Judith McLaughlin Giambona.
Joe graduated from Ballston Spa High School in 1975 and entered the US Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 13 years. He was stationed in various places overseas until his honorable discharge in 1988. A Master Mechanic, Joe was currently working at Milton Caterpillar in Clifton Park. He was a hard worker who appreciated a job well done. In his spare time, Joe was always looking for the next project or helping someone with their own.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed sport shooting, hunting, fishing, and riding on his motorcycle. He was a longtime member of the Kayaderosseras Fish and Game Club in Ballston Spa. He was a skilled model builder ranging from classic cars to military aircraft.
Joe was the proud father of his children Michael Giambona of Porter Corners, and Conor and Bryn Giambona of California, grandfather of Lucas Giambona, brother to Roseann (Mark) Garwacki and Julia Orsini, and uncle of Ashley Garwacki and Tyler Orsini. Also survived by several aunts and uncles and their families. He was predeceased by his brother Michael Giambona.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Sept 7th from 4-7PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118 with a funeral home service to follow starting at 7PM. Military Honors and burial will be Wednesday at 10AM at the Saratoga National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should arrive at 9:45AM.
