Obituary for Cathy L. Yankowski
STILLWATER - Cathy L. Yankowski, 64, of Brickyard Rd, died peacefully in the comfort of her home on July 27, 2021, after a several month battle with cancer. Born on September 30, 1956, she was the daughter of the late John Gleeson Sr and the late Helen Smith Ford.
A 1974 graduate of Mechanicville High School, Cathy worked as an administrative assistant and secretary for various employers throughout her career. She specialized in court systems, having worked for the NYS Unified Court System, Stillwater Town Court and also the Mechanicville City court to name a few. She also served as the Stillwater Village Clerk at one time.
At home, Cathy loved being in her flower gardens, tending to her perennials. She was also a talented sewer and crocheter, often donating her hats and scarves to those in need. She loved helping her grandson Joshua, who was a Revolutionary War reenacter, create the most perfect, realistic uniforms for his events.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Walter W. Yankowski, whom she married on November 5, 1977, her loving children Josie(Jerry Ryan) Yankowski of Mechanicville and Matthew(Valerie Bonesteel) Yankowski of Stillwater, cherished grandson Joshua Ryan, brothers Robert Gleeson and John Gleeson Jr., and brother in law John Dworak as well as several step siblings, aunts, uncles nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Cathy was predeceased by her sister Kelly Dworak and step father John Ford.
