Obituary for Frederick R. "Fred" Gaudette Sr.

MECHANICVILLE - Frederick Robert Gaudette Sr, 70, of South Street, and former longtime resident of Victory Mills, passed away at his home on July 16, 2021. Born on November 11, 1950 in Victory Mills, he was the son of the late Fred and Edna LeClare Gaudette and brother of the late Phil Gaudette.

Affectionately known as Fred or Rick, he was a jack-of-all-trades who worked as a mechanic, a tow truck driver, and eventually retired from Weaver Petroleum where he was a maintenance worker, specializing in the company's car washes.

He had been an active member of his beloved Quaker Springs Volunteer Fire Department over the last few years, serving with their fire police. He was also a former member of the Stillwater Fire Department. A 1971 Stillwater High School graduate, Fred, among other things, enjoyed NASCAR and his daily trips to Stewarts for a cup of coffee.

Survivors include his brother Robert(Carol) Gaudette of Mechanicville, his sister Linda O'Connor Gaudette of Conway, SC, sister-in-law Patricia Gaudette, his son Frederick "Rick"(Carly) Gaudette, Jr of Waterford, daughter Loralee(James) Hawthorne of Mechanicville, and adopted daughter Jamie(Dan) MacMillan of Victory Mills. Fred also leaves behind eight grandchildren, two adopted grandchildren and one adopted great granddaughter, as well as many, aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 20th from 5-7PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S Main St, Mechanicville, NY 12118. A celebration of life will follow starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Quaker Springs Fire Department, 107 Blodgett Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
