Obituary for Sharon Lee Gaspie (Thrane)

MECHANICVILLE -Sharon Thrane Gaspie, 67 of Bennington Ave., died suddenly Wed May 26th at Albany Medical Center, after suffering a major cerebral stroke at home on Friday, May 21st.
Born in Lancaster, California May 10, 1954, daughter of Nira Rice Thrane and the late Leland Thrane, Sharon was a 1972 graduate of Mechanicville High School. A former hair dresser, Sharon had worked for the former King Fuels, but taking care of her family and home, were special to her.
A longtime elections inspector for the City of Mechanicville and the Mechanicville City School District, Sharon and family enjoyed their many trips to Cape Cod. Especially bench sitting and people watching in Provincetown. She also enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, bingo, crocheting, and other games of chance.
A fun loving and caring person, Sharon enjoyed gathering about her kitchen, patio or anywhere with her family and friends.
It was known by all, that upon her passing, Sharon wanted to be an organ donor to continue on her desire to help others. Sharon’s wishes have been granted and she has become a giving angel to a number of individuals awaiting transplants, through the Center for Donation and Transplant in cooperation with Albany Medical Center. Sharon wanted to inspire others to become organ donors as well.
Survivors, in addition to her Mother, include her husband of 46 years, Paul W. Gaspie, daughters Joy Renee Gaspie and Karen Lee Gaspie both of Cohoes, grandchildren Robert Scicchitano, Jr and Zachery Paul Gaspie, brothers Leland Donald (Jayne) Thrane Jr. of Melrose and Scott William (Kimberly) Thrane of So. Carolina, in-laws Dennis and Barbara Gaspie, along with in-laws, nieces and nephews and canine companions Pixie and Freckles.
A Graveside Burial service will be held Tuesday, June 1st at Noon at St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville.
