Obituary for Ralph E. Hanna

MECHANICVILLE - Ralph "Pete" Hanna, 86, lifelong resident of Mechanicville, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021 at Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Troy on November 10, 1934, son of the late Ralph and Ethel McWhinney Hanna, he was a 1953 graduate of Mechanicville High School, where he was a standout football player.
Pete was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106, for over 60 years, having served on the Executive Board for many years and was a prominent Union Steward on many construction jobs from Albany to the Canadian Border.
He owned and operated Ralph Hanna Construction and Hanna Gradeall Rentals.
Pete served as Scoutmaster, Troop 49, sponsored by St. Luke's Church, and he also coached for many years in the CYO basketball program.
Ralph was a member of the Mechanicville Fire Department having been one of the longest serving captains of the WB Nielson Company and went through the ranks of Mechanicville Fire Chief, serving as 2nd Assistant, 1st Assistant, and Chief.
He was an avid boater for many years, having traveled the waterways of Florida, New York and Canada.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 25 years, Rosanne Musto Hanna, whom he married June 29, 1996 as well as a son Ralph and daughter Kathleen.
A Funeral Mass at All Saints on the Hudson Church, 121 N Main Street, Mechanicville NY will be on Monday, May 17th at 11AM, followed by burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.
