PITTSTOWN - Harriet M. DeLaMater, 75, of Otter Creek Road, died Saturday, May 8th, after an extended illness, in the safe and loving company of her husband and family.
Born in Green Island, Oct. 28, 1945, daughter of the late William and Harriet Littlejohn Wagner, Harriet was a graduate of Tamarac High School. For the last 8 years, she was a child care assistant at the Mechanicville Area Community Center. Previously, she worked for Eddy Day Care of Troy, and a drugstore tech with Rite Aid of Schaghticoke. She had also operated her own cleaning business for some years.
An avid knitting and crocheter, she made blankets among other items for her family and friends. She also loved tending to her flower gardens, and loved traveling with her husband throughout these United States, including Hawaii.
Harriet was involved at one time with the 4-H club, the Youth for Christ ministry for young adults, former member of Loudon Community Church and recently the Hoosic Valley Community Church.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years Ronald E. DeLaMater, children: Michele Tripp of Rotterdam, Eric (Tammy) DeLaMater of Averill Park and Lisa (Christopher Conway) DeLaMater of Rutland, Vt, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and her two brothers, William L. (Judith) Wagner, Jr of Hudson Falls and James T. (Mary) Wagner of Maine, along with several nieces and nephews and families.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 12:45 PM at Hoosic Valley Community Church, 2024 State Route 40, Schaghticoke, 12154, with burial to follow at Saratoga National Cemetery. A Visitation will be held prior to the church service Thursday from 11 AM to 12:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 So Pearl St, Albany, 12202, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
Due to Pandemic guidelines, wearing of masks and social distancing will be followed.
