Obituary for Darlene M. Knapp

MECHANICVILLE - Darlene M. Knapp, 64, of So. Third Ave, died Saturday, April 3rd, at Samaritan Hospital, after fighting numerous medical problems over past years.
Born in Troy, January 13, 1957, daughter of the late Edmund and Doris Mason Barton, she was a 1975 graduate of Hoosic Valley Central Schools, and later earned her Licensed Practical Nursing certification and was an LPN at the former Leonard Hospital in Troy for about 20 years. Later she served as a private duty home care nurse for number of years.
In her youth, she was a member of the former Mavericks Drum and Bugle Corps of Schaghticoke/Valley Falls, as a bugler.
A member of the Hemstreet Park Fire Dept's Ladies Auxiliary, she was always ready to help out with anything that needed to be done for family and friends. She cherished time spent with her husband, daughter, grandchildren, siblings and aunts , uncles and cousins.
Survivors include her husband Gordon "Rusty" Knapp, Jr. whom she married May 8, 1987, her loving daughter Jessica Thompson of Mechanicville, cherished Nana of grandchildren Preston and Maddison Thompson, along with her siblings: Deborah (Henry) Kalbfliesh and Diane (Tom) Angrisano both of Valley Falls, Keith (Mary) Barton of Hyde Park and Kirk (Meena) Barton of Doylest, Pa and their children.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 PM at DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Calling hours at the Funeral Home will precede services from 5-7 PM. Pandemic guidelines such as social distancing, mask wear and limiting of attendance will be followed.
Burial will be held on Thursday at 2 PM at Saratoga National Cemetery. Attendees are asked to arrive at SNC by 1:45 PM
