STILLWATER - Stephen P. Sluti, 79, of Hudson Ave, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on March 24th 2021, after a brief illness. Born on September 17th 1941, Steve was the son of the late Stephen and Pauline Sluti.
Steve was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving honorably from 1959-62 and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 1644, Riverside. He worked at the Westvaco Paper Mill many years ago, leaving when the plant closed, to become employed at General Electric Silicone Division, Waterford for many years where he retired as a department supervisor. He was a longtime member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge 1403. He was also a diehard Chicago Bears fan.
Steve had many friends and interests and enjoyed being outside, working in the yard. The patriarch of his family, he was treasured by them all and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Trish Miranda-Sluti, his children, George (Lisa) LeClaire, Pamela (Donald) Moore, Tira (Jeff) Martin, Stephen M Sluti and Kelly Sluti, his grandchildren, Phillip (Marci) Perry, Nathan (Rochelle) LeClaire, Trisa Sluti, Thomas Martin, Daniel Martin, Adam Martin, Sara Martin and Matthew Perry, several great-grandchildren, his cherished dog, Abby, sister in law Diane(Darrell) Finn and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville on Sunday from 1-3PM. Military honors and burial at the Saratoga National Cemetery will be held on Monday at 10AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to be at the visitor's center at 9:45AM.
