Obituary for Charles C. Diggs

STILLWATER - Charles C. Diggs, 72, of Ten Broeck St, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, March 18, 2021. Born in Fort Carson, CO he was the son of the late Harold and Mary Jane Diggs.
Shortly after high school, Chuck joined the US Army, served in Vietnam where he received an Army Commendation Medal for bravery and heroism, and was honorably discharged in 1971 after proudly serving his country for 3 years.
A longtime employee of General Electric/Momentive for over 30 years, he worked as a control operator in the water treatment plant and had also worked on the fire brigade. A dedicated member of the Stillwater Rescue Squad, he was a former president, taught first aide/CPR and was a certified EMT with defibrillator training.
Chuck loved spending time with his grandchildren and was active around his house and yard. A skilled woodworker, he built dollhouses, a large lighthouse for his wife and several other pieces of woodwork.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Mary Lalak Diggs, whom he married Nov 18, 1968, daughter Lisa Diggs of Troy, Dawn Renaud of Stillwater, Shaun(Laura) Diggs of Amsterdam and Ryan(Courtney Diggs of Stillwater, grandchildren Danielle, Bobby, Jonathan, Alexis, Breanna, Gage, Hailee, Ryan Jr and Paige, great grandchildren Olivea, Matthew, Natalia and Brinley, siblings Kimberly, Kathleen, Christopher and John, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with military honors and burial at Saratoga National Cemetery.
