For 38 years, Dick worked for American Seal Paint Co. as a production supervisor, retiring in 2000. After retirement, to keep busy, Dick worked at various times with the End Zone, Quick Response, Infostructure and Mechanicville Golf Course. Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, especially growing tomatoes, which he shared with family and friends, was a member of several hunting/fishing sport clubs in the Adirondacks. Several years ago, Dick got stung by the golf bug, and he fell in love with the game. Each year his game improved, and so did his want to play. Dick would play rounds of golf with his buddies, his wife and sons, playing every day, weather permitting. Always in a hurry, Dick could play the fastest rounds of golf, and acquired the nickname "running bear", for his express style of golf and driving his golf cart. Buckle up guys, here he comes, there he goes. He kept every scorecard, numbering in the thousands of holes played.
Dick enjoyed spending time with his family camping in the Adirondacks, he spent many years at his Uncle’s Wes’ camp in Schroon Lake. He enjoyed boating, family barbeques, vacationing in the Islands, and holiday gatherings. He also loved caring for his favorite Labrador “Brandy “who sadly passed in 2019.
Dick enjoyed conversing with friends, sharing old stories, telling some tall tales, and was always ready with a joke or comment. He was fun to be with and will be sadly missed by all.
