Obituary

STILLWATER - Richard C. McBride, 81 of Russell Drive, died Tuesday morning, Feb 2, 2021, as a result of COVID-19, after being stricken 2 weeks ago.
Born in Mechanicville, Oct 28, 1939, son of the late Clayton and Theresa McBride, Dick was a 1957 graduate of Mechanicville High School.
For 38 years, Dick worked for American Seal Paint Co. as a production supervisor, retiring in 2000. After retirement, to keep busy, Dick worked at various times with the End Zone, Quick Response, Infostructure and Mechanicville Golf Course. He was a 45-year member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge.
Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, especially growing tomatoes, which he shared with family and friends, was a member of several hunting/fishing sport clubs in the Adirondacks. Several years ago, Dick got stung by the golf bug, and he fell in love with the game. Each year his game improved, and so did his want to play. Dick would play rounds of golf with his buddies, his wife and sons, playing every day, weather permitting. Always in a hurry, Dick could play the fastest rounds of golf, and acquired the nickname "running bear", for his express style of golf and driving his golf cart. Buckle up guys, here he comes, there he goes. He kept every scorecard, numbering in the thousands of holes played.
Dick enjoyed spending time with his family camping in the Adirondacks, he spent many years at his Uncle’s Wes’ camp in Schroon Lake. He enjoyed boating, family barbeques, vacationing in the Islands, and holiday gatherings. He also loved caring for his favorite Labrador “Brandy “who sadly passed in 2019.
Dick enjoyed conversing with friends, sharing old stories, telling some tall tales, and was always ready with a joke or comment. He was fun to be with and will be sadly missed by all.
In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his brother Charles "Chach" McBride.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Kathleen "Eenie" Phinney McBride, who he married in 1967.
Father of three proud sons, Richard A. and Katie McBride of Saratoga Springs and Naples, Fla, Scott and Amy McBride of Oldsmar, Fla and Christopher McBride of Ballston Spa. Adored grandchildren Ricky (Morgan) McBride, Hunter, Emily and Kiersten McBride, along with in-laws, cousins, friends and their families.
A gathering of friends will be held on Friday from 5-7 PM at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Pandemic guidelines will be followed, such as social distancing, wearing of masks. A Private service will be held after conclusion of visitation, regrettably with attendance limited to family and invited guests.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of one's choice in loving memory of Richard C. McBride.

Ricky and family so sorry about your dad. I did not know him that well until he started to play golf with my dad and he spoke very highly about him.I enjoyed playing golf with him and talking about Mechanicville and the people from there. Sorry I couldn't make the service but was there in spirit. I'm sure my old man will get him in the foursome.
