Obituary for Rosalie N. Nichols (Norton)

MECHANICVILLE - Rosalie N. Nichols, 97, of Davenport Estates, died Sunday, January 17th, at Baptist Retirement Center, Scotia, after an extended illness.
Born in Ticonderoga, NY, Nov. 11, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Norton, she grew up and was educated in Ticonderoga. After her marriage to James Nichols, she moved to Albany, raising her family, and moved to Mechanicville in 1995.
Rosalie had last worked as a seasonal clerk for the NY State Dept of Tax and Finance, and previously had worked for a insurance group in Albany for a number of years.
She enjoyed cooking and camping, especially at Schroon River Camp Grounds in Warrensburg for many years.
Rosalie was family oriented, enjoyed their company and friendship of neighbors.
Her husband of 54 years, James A. Nichols died January 9, 2005. She was also predeceased by her brother Charles Norton and sisters Peg Nadeau,Helen Poolet, Kay Porter, Betty Davis and Marion Whitford.
Survivors include her sister Shirley Norton of Albany, sons and their wives Ira and Patti of Round Lake, Harry and Dawn of Mechanicville, daughters and their husbands Jan and Phil Hammond of Ballston Spa and Mary and Henry Arsenault of Round Lake, along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews..
Due to COVID 19 concerns, private services will be held at the convenience of family. Burial in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
Remembrances may be made to Mechanicville Area Community Center's Food Assist program in memory of Rosalie N. Nichols.
